#TWC2016 European Main Quals - Groups and Format revealed

After fierce fighting, we finally reach the Main European Qualifiers. Sixteen teams have fought bravely to reach this stage, but only the very best will be able to progress further. Due to their excellent performance last year, these four teams are our top 4 seeds: France, Sweden, Russia and Poland. They are joined by Norway, Netherlands, Germany, Belgium and 8 more teams which have earned their spot by successfully qualifying thus far.

We are however still waiting for Lithuania and Denmark to finish their on Monday. As soon as this battle is concluded, we will be start our Main Qualifiers and enjoy as magic unfolds.

These seven teams join us after winning their matches in the 2nd Qualifying Round:Estonia, Iceland, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Finland, Portugal and Spain.

So, we are looking at sixteen teams spread across four groups, which are:

Rarely do we get to say how all the groups are a big question mark, but this time that might just be the case! We have witnessed a lot of surprises thus far, which only augments our enjoyment of the tournament and we would not be surprised whatsoever if we see more.

Check how draw was made.

Format:

The Group Stage matches will be played in a best-of-one GSL format, while the decider matches will be played in a best-of-three format. The top two teams from each group will advance to the Quarter Finals where they will face one another in a best-of-three format. The Semi Finals will be played in a best-of-five format. The victors of those two matches will progress further. They will also be joined by whoever wins the 3rd place match which will also be a best-of-five format. In the end, those three teams will progress to the LAN Finals held in Belgrade, from the 5th of October to the 9th of October.
